Not overkill, over-ignorance.

I’m sure you heard about a brouhahah a while back about a faun in a Kenosha Wisconsin Animal Shelter.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/aug/1/13-wisconsin-officials-raid-animal-shelter-kill-ba/

I had. And had problems with the original story I had read. But I just re-read the story and something is just way off not just the useless show of force, but in bad comments made.

Sure 9 DNR agents and 4 deputy sheriffs for a single deer that’s not causing any problem is costing the county and state way too much money. And the way they handled it was NOT any way you should treat good and normal citizens who are non-violent. Heck, might as well have done it with a rocket launcher – the effect on people would be the same.

No it’s the comments by the DNR supervisor.

“Department of Natural Resources Supervisor Jennifer Niemeyer told WISN 12 that the law requires DNR agents to euthanize wild animals because of their potential danger.

The station asked if the raid could have been done in a less costly manner by making a phone call first.

“If a sheriff’s department is going in to do a search warrant on a drug bust, they don’t call them and ask them to voluntarily surrender their marijuana or whatever drug that they have before they show up,” the supervisor responded.

So having a faun is the same as having illegal controlled substances? Or serving a warrant to a criminal? Apparently there was no criminal behavior by the shelter or there would have been charges, correct? What were they gonna do, flush the deer? “Oh God, the po-po’s here, flush it…”

No-knock actions by any police on non-violent criminals is both dumb and endangering life and limb to ALL (police and public.)

Wait was that one of those high-capacity, black assault deer?

This comment wasn’t a mistake. This was bad rationalization by a person who shouldn’t be talking to the public. An us against them attitude only leads to more trouble for the LEOs involved. “What we did is right, because we are the law.” Same old game. And same old BS. Might doesn’t = right. And Legal doesn’t = right (ethically or morally.)

To the person in charge of that FUBAR’D action, shame on you. All you’ve done is turned more people AGAINST you. And to that supervisor? Use your brains, only Elk are illegal in the U.S.
